LIUDMILA RUBAN – DIALOGUE WITH THE WATER: Architectural Phenomena of the 21st century

Dr. Liudmila Ruban is an architect, Doctor of Science in Architecture, Associate Professor, and Professor of the Department of Innovative Architecture and Design in the Institute of Innovative Education of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (IINE KNUСA). She effectively combines productive scientific and pedagogical activities with practical design. Her scientific endeavors are also closely linked to the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA) in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Her academic credentials include:
Doctor of Architecture (2020): Methodological foundations of architectural and landscape organization of coastal and water areas, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.
Ph.D. (2000): Principles of urban use of territories in conditions of river degradation, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.
Master of Architecture: Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.
Liudmila’s professional and research interests focus on innovative architecture and contemporary design in relation to water, as well as architectural and landscape issues related to natural water bodies.
Liudmila is the author of over 65 scientific publications, including monographs (3), textbooks (3), scientific articles (40) (including Scopus and Web of Science publications), and conference proceedings (18).
Her two most recent monographs, Architectural and Landscape Organization of Coastal and Water Areas and Small Rivers of the City, both published in 2025, delve into water design approaches in architecture and urban planning, reflecting her dedication to addressing pressing global issues.
Prof. Liudmila Ruban participated in an international scientific conference, The City in Motion – Movement in the City, in April 2026 at Kraków University of Technology.
